My name is Hailey Walker and I am a fifteen-year-old girl with bilateral cochlear implants. I will be going into the ninth grade at the Lincoln School for Girls in September.
This summer has been about one thing; change. At the beginning of this summer, I graduated from the Gordon School. I have been at the Gordon School for twelve years, and graduating from this school is one of my proudest accomplishments. Another one of my proudest accomplishments is when I got accepted to the Lincoln School for Girls. This is a huge step for a fifteen year old girl like me. This summer, between middle school and high school, was a time where I got to reflect on my accomplishments. I am very proud of myself for these accomplishments and I am looking forward to my freshman year at the Lincoln School for Girls.
I enjoy doing a wide range of activities such as tennis, handbells, theater, reading, and many forms of art. I am also going to try something new and join the rowing team at school this year. I love hanging out with my friends at the mall and at the movies. I also love being with my family during gatherings and vacation. In fact, this summer my family and I went to Florida. We had a great time visiting amusement parks and hanging out. My family’s favorite place was the Discovery Cove. At the Discovery Cove we had a chance to swim with the dolphins! It was a memorable experience for us.
I also like helping others. During the school year, my class did a project were we would volunteer at different places. I volunteered at the Hamilton House, a senior center for active senior citizens. I loved helping out at the Hamilton House and learning about why it is very important to volunteer. This summer I also went back to the Hamilton House and volunteered there again. I loved helping out and I am definitely going back soon.
